Document scanning takes paperwork into the digital domain. Offices with filing cabinets crammed with paperwork are becoming an anachronism, especially with the emphasis on sustainable green living and recycling. A scanned piece of paper can be stored on a computer hard drive, on an external memory drive, portable memory sticks or on a media disc for easy, compact storage. Scanning a document at original size can be accomplished with a few mouse clicks.
Things Youll Need:
- Computer connected to a digital scanner
- Documents and printed materials for scanning
- Step 1
Open the scanning software installed on the computer by clicking the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner, choosing "All Programs" and double-clicking on the name of the scanner.
- Step 2
Place a document facedown on the scanner and close the cover.
- Step 3
Click "File" and choose "New" or "New Scan."
- Step 4
Click "Image" and enter "Full Size" or "100 percent," depending on the scanner model, in the size selector box.
- Step 5
Press the "Scan" button on the front of the scanner or click the button on-screen to begin scanning the document.
